Some Criticism of Mohalla Clinics

Although Mohalla Clinics have found wide acclaim among health specialists, poor masses, and the medical community; it has also drawn flak from many. It is alleged that the government hasn’t been able to target the time-frame. The government has failed to establish as many Mohalla Clinics in Delhi as it had promised.

The uniform healthcare facilities couldn’t be offered at all clinics. Some Mohalla Clinics offer Family Planning, male sterilization, and vaccination while others doesn’t.

The clinics are also facing a lack of staff and all the 212 pathology tests promised are yet to reach the poor masses.

Monitoring clinics for the facility they are offering is also tough and many times concerns like corruption have been raised.

In spite of all odds, Mohalla Clinics by Delhi Government has received a lot of appreciation as well.

  1. Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan and former Director General of WHO Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland have praised the initiative. However, there is a need to constantly monitor, improve and check the implementation along with removing hurdles.
